The area of Kallithea is situated at the South of the city of Rethimno at the island of Crete. The area is part of the extension of the city towards the ring road connecting Rethimno with the city of Herakleio. The project site consists of the larger part of the Building Block 473 and is located on a hill enabling vistas towards the “Fortetsa” the medieval castle of Rethimno, the port and the city center.
Considering the location of the project for a housing scheme the project’s main theme is to develop a housing complex that combines a system of open area spaces towards the view together with an internal court as a focal point providing a neighborhood feeling .
The residences are organized in a stepping pattern following the contours of the site resulting in differing floor plans at every level. At ground level the residences feature private gardens while these of higher floors have terraces and verandas taking advantage of multiple interesting vistas (the fortetsa, the port, the old city center).
